Folast™ Is Not Equivalent to Metanx®

Dear Metanx Patient -

We take pride in offering you a superior quality and valued product like Metanx® and we continue to strive to exceed your expectations. Accordingly, we would like to inform you of a situation that currently exists which may affect the trust that you come to have in Metanx®.

Recently, pharmacies have been substituting Metanx® prescriptions with the product - Folast.

This product's label claims to use only the active form of folate, L-methylfolate, which is false. Because of this labeling, pharmaceutical databases have classified this product as a generic equivalent to Metanx®, which it is not.

Laboratory testing has revealed that this product contains a D,L-methylfolate. This is NOT the same active ingredient as in Metanx®. Also, its distributor has confirmed, in small print on its own sales materials, that it does not claim to be therapeutically equivalent to any product, including Metanx®.

This product, Folast, is NOT equivalent to Metanx® because it uses the inactive form of methylfolate.

If you are offered a "generic" for your Metanx® prescription, you should check with your doctor to decide if discontinuing Metanx® is right for you.
